As beautiful as spore prints and ink look on cold-pressed watercolor sheets, I’ve found that altering paper’s surface texture and sizing ratios produces more compelling visuals. i.am.3., marlene, ‘there is no planet B’ and ouroboros are printed on handmade paper, made using materials ranging from denim scraps to banana leaves. mitochondrial eve is printed on swathes of scavenged canvas, embedded with white turquoise and cowry shell beads.
